First Powder Made
Innovative Powders has completed its first full up test of it's in-house designed and built centrifugal atomizer. The test was small with only 1kg of pure copper melted and poured, but all the atomizer subsystems checked out. The team is now focused on optimizing parameters for copper production.

30% Yield Achieved
Only 8 days after getting the atomizer online the Innovative Powders teams has achieved a milestone by producing a batch of powder with a 30% powder yield (30% of the batch is usable powder for 3D printing). This is roughly equivalent to the yield from a gas atomizer. The next big step is 50% usable powder.

Spherical Powder Confirmed
Innovative Powders received initial test results that show our powder is extremely spherical across a powder range of 25-105 µm. This confirms that centrifugal atomization can and does produce ideal powder for 3D printing and cold spray applications.

Purity Confirmed
The University of Utah Powdered Metal Lab has confirmed Innovative Powders Pure Copper is greater then 99.97% free of oxygen. This testing validates the quality and consistency of the process parameters used to manufacture our products and proves our powder is both highly electrically and thermally conductive.
